Do you need two pocketwizards to trigger one flash?
My set up is a D300 and One sb-800 with a white 36" umbrella. Should I get pocketwizards? I am using a Cactus trigger now, but i want something more substantial. But do I need to buy 2 PW's to set off one flash? and then another PW for each flash? It will cost me almost $500 in triggers alone if i want to use two flashes?!
Yes, you need one PW for each flash, unless you rig up something different using PC cables or optical triggers. There has to be a PW on the camera, and at least 1 receiver. After that, there are options to trigger more units, but the best bet is to have 1 PW per 1 flash.

driver in the city of Benghazi. “When I heard the news on television, I didn’t
believe it; I ran off to the streets and I started jumping up and down.”
In Sirte, cries of “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is Great,” rang out. In Tripoli,
once Gaddafi’s seat of power, children and ululating women took to the streets
to celebrate alongside men. Some held photos of dead loved ones.
In scenes similar to those that played out in Egypt after President Hosni
Mubarak was toppled in February, Libyans — waving the tri-color flags that
have becomes a symbol ...
