7 Tips For Starting Your Painting Art Journal
The beauty of Shenandoah Valley has been painted by a local resident from Route 1 Bridgewater on canvas. But this artist, who has been painting for over 36 years, does not carry easel and oils to a rolling cornfield or mountain ridge to capture its natural beauty. She uses pictures cut from newspapers as a base to paint as well. More information on the topic of paintings is located at photos into paintings.
She tells us that the clippings are her way of using black and white again to put back the color, like in the old days. In order to create larger scenic painting, she adds, she cuts out pictures of animals and object. Using a newspaper photograph of two millstones she painted the huge 15 by 4 ft mural on her family room, and she proves it by holding up the worn out newspaper. The grey mill wheels blended into the rustic scene of a millhouse on a riverbank.
The artist makes it clear that the mural on the wall is the result of incorporating all her photograph detailing techniques, which she also uses for weather board buildings, farm crops and equipment, and wood land animal paintings. In order to do this, she only needs water. Since water dries out faster; it's not really hard to paint with it.
Her plans are to start working on another painting, this time with a snow scene. The snow painting will be quick and easy. Actually, she only has the mural and about two smaller scenes displayed around her home. Most of her paintings, apparently, were sold right after having been finished or given away to friends. Her items are usually sold through a Hagerstown furniture dealer in Maryland. Her friends and neighbors usually ask her to paint, and she never turns them down. The artist is so busy with too many orders coming from all directions. She receives tons of orders during the Christmas months because people usually give her paintings as gifts.
She was only thirteen years old when first got into painting, thanks to a nice old lady in her neighborhood in Rockingham County. Every afternoon she paid 25 cents to the old lady for a lesson. She has kept the first pallet her mother made her when she was little until now; it was made of a lightweight board. Although the old pallet was smeared with paint everywhere, a note was decoupage on it telling how it was made.
They have placed item from their church, which has been torn down six years ago, in a family room inside their home. As you sun streaks across the glass wall that covers an entire face of the room, you could see the river streaming near their house. According to her, they wanted to bring the outside on the inside.
When she was painting the large mural, her mind was telling her something was missing. Her children told her the rustic family room and the bright foliage with rusts, red and gold did not mix well, so she had to redo the mural three quarters through completion. The artist said she would no longer add more pictures in her home, so people could simply just focus on the eye catching mural on the wall which tells of how much she love painting.
