Homemade Desiccant Packs
Stop paying for desiccant packs at the shop when you can make homemade desiccant. These people keep your electronics from accumulating damaging humidity and can eliminate unpleasant odors but most desiccant packs are made to suck the moisture from the air and be thrown out you're now done with them. With a do-it-yourself pack, you have the ability to dry out them out and re-use these people over and over.
Materials
The best substance to use for desiccant is silica gel. It is easily obtainable from any craft store since it is used to dry flowers. Silica gel may absorb 40 percent of its own weight in water, which makes it an ideal substance. Reversing the procedure and removing the water is a straightforward process with this material. Be sure to stick with the gel and remain away from finely milled silica powders because the powders may be bad for your lungs in case you inhale them.
Containers
Using vitamin bottles or something similar will likely be best for homemade desiccant packs. Simply complete the container with the silica gel and tape two coffee filtration over the top. These filters let the moisture to enter the bottle but prevent any possible spills. Put a label on the side that indicates just how heavy the bottle will be when it needs to have the moisture removed.
Measuring
You'll need to take a few different measurements. The very first is noting the weight of the vacant container. The second is the weight from the container and the silica gel. Subtract the extra weight of the container and you'll get the weight of just the silica gel. By increasing number the weight of the silica gel by 1.35, you'll get the weight of the gel when it is full of drinking water. Add this number to the pounds of the container and you will have your current target weight for regenerating your current pack. Mark this weight on the container so you know exactly when it is getting close to full.
Taking out the Water
Once the desiccant pack can be full, you simply need to take the gel and place it on a cooking sheet and place it within the oven at 300 certifications for three hours. Take it out and let it cool down and it's ready to be used again. Be sure that the actual baking sheet you use will be separate from the ones you prepare on because not all it gels should come in contact with your food.
You don't have to spend a ton of funds on desiccant packs anymore. The process of making and maintaining these packs is simple enough to really make it worth your while to save the money pertaining to something more important.
